Time to put on your party hats because March is National Nutrition Month and we’re going to celebrate around here!
What is National Nutrition Month? Here’s a brief explanation straight from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Website:
National Nutrition Month® is a nutrition education and information campaign created annually in March by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, formerly the American Dietetic Association. The campaign focuses attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day, also celebrated in March, increases awareness of registered dietitian nutritionists as the indispensable providers of food and nutrition services and recognizes RDNs for their commitment to helping people enjoy healthy lives.
The theme this year is “Bite into a Healthy Lifestyle” which fits right into my views about health and wellness (which I talked about a little bit in my New Year’s post and also my post about a healthy yet balanced diet). You can check out all of my nutrition-related posts here or at the tab at the top of the page.
Here are 5 ideas of ways you can celebrate National Nutrition Month:
– Set both a new sound eating and physical activity goal to focus on during the month of March.
– Find a new, healthy recipe each week to make at home
– Try to get the recommended servings of fruits and vegetables every day
– Set a steps goal with your Fitbit or other fitness tracker
– Make half of your grain intake whole grains

Did you know it is National Nutrition Month?
Does your work celebrate this joyous occasion in any way?
Will you do something in honor of this month now that I’ve told you about it? <—say yes
I actually read a post this morning that said it was National Nutrition Month, but I wouldn’t have known if it wasn’t for that post.Hopefully my school will pick up on it :) And I’m going to brainstorm some new healthy (EASY) things to make for myself at school to switch up my eating.
I hope your school does something. Usually schools have some sort of wellness or health promotion department that will run campaigns during march. You’ll have to let me know if you see anything around campus!
I didn’t know it was National Nutrition Month but now I am going to text my RD in the morning to wish her a happy month, haha! I wish my work place celebrated NNM but unfortunately all we celebrate is “drink more coffee” day … every day ;).
I’m looking forward to hearing your big news!
Next week (I think the 11th) is National RD day also!
