Guys! Where has summer gone? I know it’s not *officially* fall yet but I can’t believe today is the first day of September! I don’t know about you but I usually welcome fall with open arms… the summer is great but usually the hot weather wears on my after a while.
To wrap up August business, I thought I’d share some things that I’ve really been loving this month!
Things Loved in August
Tory Burch York Buckle Tote
This handbag may be proof that B knows the way straight to my heart <3
I wore scrubs at my old job and used a backpack to carry my things to work. I actually used to use a tote bag but switched to the backpack back in my scooter days. I felt like the backpack just kind of went with the scrubs and I liked the convenience of it, so I never cared about switching back to a tote. But then I got my new job, and my attire has now gone to business casual clothing… the backpack just didn’t fit anymore.
B surprised me and got the TB York Buckle tote for me as a “Congratulations” gift on starting my new job. I have been using it for about a month and so far I really love it! The tote comes in 2 sizes and I have the larger size. I think the smaller size is more like a purse size, and I definitely need the bigger one to fit all of my stuff!
One thing I love about it is the center compartment (that can fit a laptop or ipad). I have several notebooks and things, and this compartment keeps everything standing up on each side. I also love the classic black color. I actually don’t have any sort of black tote bag so this was a nice addition to my bag collection! Thanks, B!
Garmin Forerunner 305
If you have read here for a while or follow me on Instagram then you probably recognize my trusted workout accessory, the Garmin Forerunner 305.
I got this watch as a Christmas gift back in 2010. I have used it for almost every run and cycle since then! I have no idea how it is still working after nearly 7 years but it has been a great watch. I would truly feel naked without it. I know these watches are a little pricey but I have obviously gotten great use out of it!
Artic Tumbler
I know Yetis are all the rage right now, but I have a really hard time paying $50 for a cup (even though I got one for my mom for her bday…. she deserves it!). This Artic Tumbler is $15 Amazon and so far it has been great. I have never used a Yeti to compare them but it keeps my coffee MUCH hotter than my previous Starbucks mug. I get to work and immediately have to go to rounds for an hour, so having a cup that keeps my coffee hot until I come back is very appreciated #lovescaffeine
My cup is the 20oz which I think is the perfect size for a morning coffee. If you were wanting to take a cold drink out to the pool or lake or something then I would probably recommend going up to the 30oz size.
Danskos
Yes, it is 2016. And I am writing in a blog post that I’m freaking in LOVE with my Danskos!
As mentioned above, I went from wearing scrubs (and tennis shoes!) to now wearing business casual. I am walking a ton at work now and wearing flats was completely destroying my feet. Back when I tore the tendon in my foot, my ortho strongly cautioned me about wearing shoes with poor support. He said I would be asking for a lifetime of foot issues if I didn’t change my shoe habits (flats, flip flops and heels). I save my fun shoes for the occasional wear but I have mostly listened to his advice.
After my 3rd day of work, when I could hardly walk, I remembered that I had an old pair of Danskos in my closet. They have completely saved my feet! I was so thankful to not be in pain anymore that I purchased another pair in black.
I would love to find a fashionable yet comfy and supportive flat to wear to work, but I’m currently taking ~12,000 steps per day and didn’t feel like going through the trial and error that sometimes comes along with trying out flats.
White Noise Machine
So I’m going to be honest here… the reason I have a white noise machine is because Lily snores like it’s nobody’s business. She sounds louder than a person. I am used to it because she’s been like that her entire life, but I can see how this might be problematic for someone who isn’t used to it. In an effort to not experience a break-up over my dog’s snoring, a white noise machine now resides in my windowsill.
While this wasn’t the original purpose, my sleeping has improved SO much on the weekends with this thing. The insulation in our apartment sucks and there are usually some intoxicated individuals hanging outside of my bedroom window on the weekends. I’m a little worried that I might get to the point of not being able to sleep without it but so far I’ve not had that issue.
Some New Tunes
I have been loving these songs lately! I heard I Wasn’t Expecting That on my Amazon Prime “Relaxing Acoustic Pop” playlist and the others are from the radio.
Questions for ya
Do you have any comfy flat suggestions? I need some with actual arch support.
What have you been loving lately?!
Any new song suggestions? Especially for workouts!
Have a great day
What a beautiful tote and such a thoughtful gift! B sounds like a great guy!
I didn’t know white noise machines cancel out snoring! I need to look into getting one. Adam, Cecil and I are ALL Sometimes Snorers! Adam snores when his sinuses act up, I snore when I sleep on my stomach and bury my face in my pillow and Cecil snores when he covers his nose with his paw. Sounds like the white noise machine could help us out because three snorers in one bedroom is a lot! haha
You can also download a white noise app!
I LOVE my white noise machine. I’ve had one for 10 years, and now I use an app on my phone when traveling.
It is really a lifesaver sometime! We used the app on vacation and it was great.
Ugh the work shoe issue is the worst! I do a ton of walking too and flats kill my feet but it’s so hard to find something that looks decent, especially when wearing dresses.
Yeah I’ve already decided I’m not wearing dresses to work because I can’t deal with the show dilemma! :)
I totally have so many favorites with you. Danskos are fantastic once you break them in. But they can be a beast to break in. I totally miss my Garmin 305. I freaking loved that watch, and then it got stolen. While getting satellite. WTFFFFFFFFFFF
So I have no idea if this is true but I read online that you should try on several pair of Danskos in the same size to see which one fits better. Since they are handmade, they all fit a bit differently. I definitely found this to be the case with my newest pair and didn’t have to break them in at all! I was so happy because I didn’t really have the time to break them in before I needed to wear them.
