Hey guys- HAPPY FRIDAY! I have never been so happy to see the weekend.
Here’s what’s going on in my life:
1. Birthday Celebrations
Patrick is my older brother and today is his 35th birthday! You don’t see a lot of him on the blog because he lives in Northern Virginia. He is very much a computer person and without him, this blog wouldn’t exist! No really, I’m not just saying that…. I accidentally deleted the entire thing right after I got it set up and he fixed it for me! God bless his soul for being the only guy in a household of 3 ladies growing up
(p.s. photo cred: bert reed photography).
And also, Sunday is the Queen B’s birthday
Lily will be turning 11 years old and my, how the time flies. Lily has been the best companion to me for over a decade of my life. No matter what is going on in life, she makes sure my day begins and ends with lots of love and snuggles. She is not normally allowed to sleep in the bed but I let her last night because it’s her bday!
2. BBG Workouts
I mentioned I was starting the Kayla Itsines Bikini Body workout program and I officially kicked things off on Monday. GUYS. I thought I was going to die this week. Like, I can hardly move my body.
The program cycles through different types of workouts: resistance, low intensity and high intensity. I have had 2 resistance workouts so far, one for legs and one for arms and abs. Each workout has 2 different circuits that are 7 minutes each, and you repeat them both for a total of 28 minutes. It has taken me 3 days to recover from the leg workout… I have not even been able to walk down steps! I did the arm workout on Wednesday and literally could hardly pick up my phone on Thursday morning to turn off my alarm.
I am only 2 days in but it is making me realize how inadequate my previous strength training has been. The leg workout was really just a variety of squats and lunges, but I never pushed myself with my old strength training. I would highly recommend a program like this for any of you guys who are training for running events. I can already tell how much it is going to strengthen my core. #injury prevention
3. Flying Solo
B is in London this week and I am flying solo. He travels a ton for work anyway but it somehow feels different since he’s not on the same continent. I am enjoying the time difference, though, because I have been able to talk to him on my way to work (at 6am). Very much looking forward to his return!
4. Halloween Festivities
There are several fun things going on this weekend for Halloween. One is a big bike ride around Charlotte where you can dress up in a costume. I really wanted to dress up like the bike scene in ET, and bring Lily in a black crate on the front of the bike… but somehow I feel like she wouldn’t love that.
One of my friends is also having a housewarming/costume party on Saturday. So far I have no costume lined up so I need to get on that. I have always wanted to be Edward Scissor Hands for Halloween and I’ve been thinking about how to create the scissor hands all week!
This post is also reminding me that I have yet to watch Hocus Pocus this year. Best. Halloween. movie. ever.
5. Business Update
This week has been a big week for me in moving along with the process of starting my own private practice nutrition business. I settled on a name and am hoping to start the process of building my website this weekend. I have tentatively picked out a wordpress theme although I’d like to spend some more time browsing before I make a commitment! I will be sure to share things with you when I’m up and running.
I also have a potential office space in the exact area of Charlotte where I’d like to see clients. It’s actually a massage therapy office but they are renting space on evenings and weekends. This is perfect for me because I will still be working full-time in the day and do not want to expense of having a full-time office by myself. I am going to look at it next week…. I’m really hoping this works out because trying to find an arrangement for affordable part-time office space has not been easy.
That’s it for me this week!
Do you dress up for Halloween? Please tell me your best adult Halloween costume!
What is your favorite holiday movie? I love Hocus Pocus for Halloween and Bad Santa for Christmas.
